Naraka: Bladepoint Launches on PS5, Becomes Free to Play Soon

Naraka: Bladepoint

Naraka: Bladepoint will launch on PlayStation 5 next week, developer 24 Entertainment announced today. On the same day (Thursday, July 13th), the popular game will change its business model and become free to play on all platforms.

Naraka: Bladepoint was originally launched on PC nearly two years ago, encountering immediate success (it was among the top-earning games on Steam in 2021 and 2022). It's a rather unique take on the Battle Royale genre focused on fast-paced melee combat, and it has attracted over 20 million players to date, according to 24 Entertainment.

In the official FAQ, the developers said they wanted to open the game to an even bigger audience. They also provided a table to compare the free-to-play version with the Standard, Deluxe, and Ultimate editions.

These can be earned in a variety of ways by playing Naraka: Bladepoint. Free players will have a weekly cap of 35, but that can be removed by upgrading to one of the premium editions mentioned above. On the other hand, existing players who purchased the game are going to get in-game gold equivalent to the edition owned.

During the live stream event, 24 Entertainment also introduced a host of new upcoming content, such as:

  • Capture the Spirit Well: A 12v12 gang wars battle that allows players to capture locations to earn points
  • New Dual Halberds Weapon: Combines a spear and a dagger into one. It can stab straight and also strike horizontally with the ability to lock other weapons
