Palia, the free-to-play life simulation MMO inspired by the likes of Animal Crossing and Harvest Moon, finally has firm Closed Beta and Open Beta dates, at least on PC.
Los Angeles based studio Singularity 6 (composed of industry veterans who formerly worked in companies like Blizzard, Epic, Riot, Zynga, and Sony) announced that the Closed Beta will begin on Tuesday, August 2nd, with registration already open at this address. Applicants also have a chance to be selected for a final Stress Test scheduled for July 25th.
Closed Beta Access will be slowly granted to account holders over the rest of the week. On Wednesday, August 10th, Palia will enter Open Beta testing on PC, allowing anyone to check out the game. The progress made in the beta will be kept for the full release.
The developers noted that North American and Western regions of the world will receive access to the Beta right away, with more regions coming shortly. The Closed Beta release includes the following languages: English, Spanish, French, Italian, and German. Others will be added throughout the Beta phase.
To date, Palia already gathered over 600K Alpha signup applications, marking a noticeable interest in the cozy, non-combat-focused world. Aidan Karabaich, Co-Founder and Game Director at Singularity 6, stated:
We designed Palia to challenge genre conventions and bring people together in a cozy MMO where they can forge new friendships, and we’re thrilled to finally welcome new players to create the coziest versions of themselves. We’ve worked hard to create an experience that feels like a relaxing home away from home, and we view our Beta phase as the next step in a continuous journey to expand and improve the game alongside our players. We hope you’ll join us.
Here's a basic overview of what you'll do in Palia:
As you start your adventure in the idyllic Kilima Village, you will discover there’s more to Palia than just this simple farm life…
- Unravel a deep mystery about what happened to ancient humans as you reappear in the world alongside other players
- Befriend the local Majiri, learn their backstories, build friendships, or maybe even romance!
- Give back to the community by honing your skills in fishing, hunting, foraging, mining, insect catching, cooking, furnishing, and gardening.
Palia will also be released on Nintendo Switch at some point in Holiday 2023. Singularity 6 did not discuss other consoles for the time being.
