Blizzard has revealed four Diablo 4 Season of the Malignant heart types as part of the Malignant mechanic introduced with next week's Season 1.
Season of the Malignant, Diablo 4's first season, will kick off next week on July 20. A patch, adding support for the season among additional improvements and fixes (possibly some much-needed nerfs), will be made available on July 18. As part of the Season, players can come across a variety of elite enemies who have been affected by the malignant. When said enemy is defeated twice, players will gain access to a Malignant heart - powerful items which can be socketed to armor and weapons in a similar way as gems (although more powerful).
Ahead of the start of the game's first season, Blizzard has now revealed four Malignant heart types on Twitter - the Vicious heart, the Brutal heart, the Devious heart, and the Wrathful heart, each heart type dropping from the same malignant monster type. In addition to being dropped as part of the Malignant mechanic, these hearts can be crafted via Cormond's Wagon.

Earlier, the development team confirmed that Season 1 will include a total of 32 Malignant Hearts with some offering universal bonuses, while other hearts will be restricted to a certain class. As discovered recently, the Wrathful Heart will offer the Malignant Pact power, while the Vicious Heart provides Focused Rage.
As said, Diablo 4 Season of the Malignant kicks off next week on July 20. We'll update you as soon as well learn more about the Malignant Heart types within the game. For now, stay tuned.
