Typically, when Activision releases a new Call of Duty it’s back to square one for collectors – you have to purchase or unlock a new slate of weapons, operators, cosmetics and other items, even if something similar was offered in a previous game. Well, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III is a little different – it’s well established that the game started as a major expansion to CoD: Modern Warfare II, and one of the benefits of that, is that the two games are much more integrated than usual.
Basically, almost everything you’ve unlocked in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II (operators, weapons, cosmetics, ect.) will carry over to Modern Warfare III. There are some limitations to this integration, like the fact that you can’t get most of the Modern Warfare II content directly through Modern Warfare III – you have to buy MWII and carry the content over. Also, MWIII content doesn’t “carry back” to MWII. There will also be a few things that don’t carry over, like cosmetics for types of vehicles that no longer exist in MWIII. “The term ‘Carry Forward’ simply refers to content currently available to players in Modern Warfare II and the current version of Call of Duty: Warzone (such as weapons and cosmetic content, including Bundles, Operators, and other rewards and unlocks from the game), and how much of it will be accessible in Modern Warfare III.
A small amount of content may be unavailable if gameplay offerings are different in Modern Warfare III. For example, if MWIII doesn’t have the Tactical Amphibious Vehicle, or a specific piece of Tactical or Lethal Equipment in any game modes, any Skins you’ve unlocked for these items in MWII won’t be in MWIII. In addition, Wartracks (music) will not carry forward from MWII to MWIII.”

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III is launching on November 10. Presumably, the game will be coming to the same platforms at Modern Warfare II (PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, and PS5) although that hasn’t yet been confirmed. More details will be revealed on August 17.
