A new Baldur's Gate 3 hotfix is now live, fixing a critical issue that was corrupting save files, forcing those afflicted to start the game all over from the beginning.
Hotfix 2.1, which went live a few hours back, uncaps the save file size so as to prevent the player's personal databases, which keep track of all their choices and actions, from corrupting the save file. Additionally, Larian confirmed cross-saves have been reactivated ahead of the PlayStation 5 launch of the game and that a new hotfix is already in the works, which will bring more fixes to the game.
Larian's post-launch support for Baldur's Gate 3 has been great so far, as the developer already released three hotfixes to address some of the game's most annoying issues. Due to the game's massive size in terms of what players can achieve in its world, Baldur's Gate 3 is far from being completely bug-free, but the situation is constantly improving, and players can jump into the world of Faerûn without having to worry about any critical issue, especially now that the save file issue has been fixed.
