Intel Arc GPUs Now Deliver Even Faster DX11 Performance, New PresentMon Tool Unveiled 1

Intel is further adding more DX11 performance to Arc GPUs while bringing out a brand new tool known as PresentMon.

Intel Arc GPUs See More DX11-Boosting Performance Driver Updates, PresentMon Monitoring Tool Unveiled

Since Intel launched its Arc GPU family, the company prioritized modern APIs including DX12 and Vulkan. Now that Intel has strengthened its performance within those, the blue team took a step back and focused on DX11 performance which has seen incremental updates over the quarters & at this point, Intel's DX11 performance is on par with its competitors.

The latest driver update for Intel Arc GPUs further enhances DX11 performance by adding 19% higher FPS on average and 20% higher 99th Percentile FPS versus the launch drivers. This boost can be witnessed in some of the most commonly played titles including Overwatch 2, Apex, GTA V, DOTA 2, Counter-Strike 2, Valorant, Genshin Impact, Destiny 2 & more. The following charts from Intel show the performance of the Arc A750 graphics card using the launch driver and the latest drivers:

Talking about their overall achievements for Arc GPUs, the Intel Graphics division has so far offered:

  • 30 Driver Releases Since Launch
  • Supporting 57 Games with Game-On Drivers
  • XeSS Now Including in 70+ Games
  • Continuous Game Performance Improvements

In addition to the performance updates, Intel is also presenting a new tool known as "PresentMon" which will offer an in-game overlay, allowing users to perform real-time analysis and monitoring of their system's performance. Following is the full run-down on the tool:

This overlay can run while your game is on the screen to show your performance, GPU telemetry like voltage and temperature, and analyze a heap of information, all in real time. Want to see your 99th percentile frame times charted against your GPU utilization just above a chart of memory of utilization? We’ve got you! Maybe you really love histograms (like TAP does!) or maybe you are just tech-curious and want to see how your system is behaving – Intel PresentMon will impress.

Another cool feature this beta brings is a totally new metric called “GPU Busy.” It can get pretty geeky pretty quick, but the TLDR is that you can see how much time your GPU is spending doing actual rendering versus sitting idle, or if your gaming PC is really CPU and GPU balanced, which makes the “GPU Busy” metric look interesting. Our video discussion with TAP at the top of the page goes into a lot more detail on this; I highly encourage you all to watch it if you want to nerd out, and maybe learn a bit about the game render pipeline along the way. Keep an eye out for our tech reviewer friends that will be using this metric for some interesting stories soon!

Intel PresentMon supports data capture for post-game analysis, supports all GPU vendors, will run on DX9/11/12 and Vulkan, and can be ran through a command line for anyone that just CRAVES automation. And any of our developer friends out there that were dependent on PresentMon for their own applications can rest assured that continues to be supported in the tool.

The best part about the new tool is that it will be supported cross-platform across multiple vendors and will be fully open-source to allow for easy integration within 3rd party applications. There's also going to be broader API support such as DX11, DX11, DX9, OpenGL, & Vulkan while supporting both Windows 11 and Windows 10 operating systems. This is great for users who have issues running a GPU overlay in older games and applications.

PresentMon is set to offer:

  • A Configurable overlay with real-time graphics
  • Gaming PC balance metrics
  • Integrated GPU telemetry and capture
  • Multi-vendor supports and open-source
  • Broad API support
  • Command line options for power users
  • Continued support for PresentMon developers and applications

The Intel PresentMon tool is available to download from this site and is currently in BETA state so expect a few bugs here and there. With that said, Intel has done an absolutely fantastic job so far with its Arc lineup and we can't wait for their next update.
