Intel's Latest Arc GPU Drivers Help Resolve Starfield Game Crashes & Other Issues, More Fixes On The Way
Starfield is one of the biggest, if not the biggest, releases for PC this year and the game has so far received overwhelmingly positive reviews from across the gaming industry. AMD users had some of the best optimizations within the game as soon as the game was available in early access a few days ago and NVIDIA also had a pre-launch driver that supports Starfield and offers decent GPU performance. Meanwhile, Intel's Arc GPUs have been facing various issues leading to game crashes and other visual and performance instability.
Now, Intel has quickly cooked up its 31.0.101.4672 BETA Game-On driver for Intel Arc & Iris GPUs to deliver a more optimal gaming experience within Starfield. This new release definitely is something that was much needed as the game is just a few days away from global release. Meanwhile, gamers who are running an Arc GPU and want to play Starfield in the early access period can also use this driver and begin their adventure of the universe.
Following is the changelog for the latest Intel Arc GPU driver release:
- Graphics Driver package has temporarily increased to significantly reduce the Starfield game load duration.
- Several Starfield game instability and visual artifacts have been fixed in this driver. High Preset and below are recommended to improve stability.
- Efforts are in progress to further improve the overall gaming experience of Starfield for Intel Arc users in future driver updates.

- Starfield (DX12) may experience application instability in some areas of the game.
- Starfield (DX12) may exhibit corruption when using Dynamic Resolution Scaling. A workaround is to change the Render Resolution Scale slider value.
- Starfield (DX12) may exhibit texture flickering on light sources during gameplay.
- Starfield (DX12) may exhibit low texture details on certain objects in the game.
- UNCHARTED: Legacy of Thieves Collection (DX12) may exhibit texture corruption on characters.
- Halo Infinite (DX12) campaign may experience an application crash on some system configurations.
- Dead by Daylight (DX11) may experience an application crash during gameplay.
- Topaz Video AI may experience errors when using some models for video enhancement.
- Adobe After Effects may experience an application crash during render operations.
- Device fan may ramp up frequently on certain Intel Arc Graphics products. Intel Iris Xe MAX Graphics Products:
- Driver installation may not complete successfully on certain notebook systems with both Intel® Iris Xe + Iris Xe MAX devices. A system reboot and re-installation of the graphics driver may be required for successful installation.

While there's a lot that needs to be fixed, it's good to know that Intel is working on further fixes and optimizations for the game as confirmed by Ryan Shroud so once again, expect more updates very soon!
