Memory specifications include 16 GB GDDR6 memory which operates at pin speeds of up to 19.5 Gbps across a 256-bit wide bus interface. This provides the card with 624 GB/s but there's also 64 MB of Infinity Cache which provides increased effective bandwidth. The graphics card will feature a brand new dual-slot and dual-fan reference cooling solution along with custom variants.
AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT 12 GB GPU Specifications
The AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT features a slightly cut-down Navi 32 XL GPU with 54 RDNA 3 Compute Units that pack 3456 cores. These cores are clocked at up to 2544 MHz, offering up to 35 TFLOPs of FP32 compute performance. The GPU is also packed with 54 RT accelerator cores, 108 AI cores, and 96 ROPs. The card has a TBP that's very close to the 7800 XT at 245W which is also higher than its predecessor.
- RX 7700 XT - Navi 32 XL / 3456 Cores / 12 GB GDDR6 / 245W / $449 US
- RX 6700 XT - Navi 22 XT / 2560 Cores / 12 GB GDDR6 / 230W / $479 US
Memory specifications of the graphics card include a very welcomed 12 GB VRAM that operates at up to 18 Gbps pin speeds across a 192-bit wide bus interface. The GPU also packs 48 MB of the 2nd Gen Infinity Cache that is packed within the 3 of the 4 MCDs (for this SKU). You can expect all the latest features such as AV1 hardware encoding, and DisplayPort 2.1 & HDMI 2.1 from the graphics card but it should be mentioned that the graphics card will only be available in custom flavors with an MBA design probably being kept for OEM solutions.
Once again, based on the official performance numbers, the AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT 16 GB is the competitor to the RTX 4070 12 GB at a $100 US lower price point while the Radeon RX 7700 XT will be competing with the RTX 4060 Ti 16 GB at the same price point following the recent price cuts of its competitor.
AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT 16 GB ($499 US) vs NVIDIA RTX 4070 12 GB ($599US):
- Rasterization Performance: +6.88%
- Ray Tracing Performance: -11.55%
- Overall Performance: +0.5% Faster
AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT 12 GB ($449 US) vs NVIDIA RTX 4060 Ti 16 GB ($449US):
- Rasterization Performance: +15.9%
- Ray Tracing Performance: --5.44%
- Overall Performance: +8.5% Faster
As such, the graphics cards fill up a very essential space in the mainstream and high-end category which was previously filled with Ada Lovelace "GeForce RTX 40" GPUs and AMD's own RX 6800 series. Both cards may also end up competing with the existing RX 6800 16 GB cards since those can also be bought for $400-$550 US.
