A new Remnant II update should be coming within the week, and it'll add a 'potato mode' as well as several other performance and quality-of-life additions.
Ben Cureton, Principal Designer at Gunfire Games on Remnant II (as well as the first installment), shared the news on Twitter alongside a rather detailed list of what players can expect in the patch.
- Toggle Aim
- Hold Sprint
- Potato Mode
- PlayStation Icon Selection
- Coop Item Pickup Hitch Fix
- Weapon Deconstruction (Material Refund)
- Engineer Mist Dash Enabled
- Engineer Back Evade Stamina Fix
- Dozens of Enemy Updates
- Many Weapon and Mod Fixes
- Many Trinket and Item Fixes
- Many Consumable Fixes
- Proper EXP rewards with Summons last-hitting (this includes Minions, Companion, and Turrets)
- ... and lots more!
Remnant II is a rather heavy game, even with DLSS 3 (Frame Generation) enabled. It's powered by Unreal Engine 5 and takes advantage of the Nanite virtualized geometry system, though it doesn't use the Lumen lighting system.
Despite launching right in the middle of Summer and close to megahits like Baldur's Gate 3, Remnant II appears to be doing very well for itself, as evidenced by the first week sales of over one million units. However, our Nathan Birch wasn't exactly thrilled by his experience with the game, as explained in his review.
Remnant II is an impressive technical and artistic accomplishment in some ways, offering an intermittedly-striking, cutting-edge procedural world that’s satisfying to unravel. Unfortunately, a forgettable story, middle-of-the-road gunplay, dull loot, and some performance issues means this fantastic world isn’t always that fun to inhabit. Some folks, particularly those with a regular co-op party, will be drawn into this dark multiverse, but others may find Remnant II only provides scattered fragments of excitement amidst the frustration.
