Roleplaying games fans may be looking forward to ending a year of incredible releases with Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader.
Today, developer Owlcat Games (the same behind Pathfinder: Kingmaker and Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous) announced that the cRPG will be released on December 7 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S|X. The release date trailer also provides the first look at the last announced companion, the Drukhari Marazhai, a member of the Dark Elf race.
Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader provides an interesting spin on the Warhammer 40K universe, putting players in the shoes of the titular Rogue Trader, a ship captain who has been given a special Imperial mandate to explore the far reaches of space with greater autonomy than usual.
In this game, players will explore the Koronus Expanse and have the chance to remain faithful to the Emperor of Mankind or even betray his tenets by siding with his enemies.
Originally unveiled in June 2022, the game was playable for those who grabbed the Founder's Packs via the official website in Alpha and Beta tests. Francesco De Meo checked out the Beta build and enjoyed his time with the game:
While I couldn't spend a lot of time with the Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader beta, it is already clear from what I have experienced so far that Owlcat Games is putting every effort into its game to make it one to remember. How the story will hold up until the end remains to be seen, but so far, as someone with only passing knowledge of the universe created by Games Workshop, I can say that I am engrossed in it and can't wait to see what lies ahead.
Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader will also be the first Owlcat game to support co-op multiplayer, though many details are still to be revealed. Expect more coverage on the game shortly.
