ASUS has finally released the GeForce RTX 4070 BTF graphics card, featuring its new cable-less design which makes for neat PC builds.
ASUS Starts Selling Its GeForce RTX 4070 BTF Cable-Less Graphics Cards, Cleaner PC Builds But With a Hefty Price Tag
For a bit of a background check, the GeForce RTX 4070 BTF comes with ASUS's proprietary solution, in the form of a new connector that doesn't require any cable connectors. This connector is labeled as the "GC-HPWR". While we have covered the connector extensively, as a recap, the GC-HPWR port replaces the traditional 12WPHR & 8-Pin power connectors & can deliver 600W power without any "wired" connector.
Regarding the topic, ASUS's GeForce RTX 40 BTF GPU lineup shows the company's aim to move away from the usual approach adopted in the industry, and the new "GC-HPWR" connection is a prime example.
However, for those looking to get the GPU, you should know that the company is advertising it as a "whole package" featuring the TX Gaming B760-BTF WiFi motherboard and the RTX 4070 TX BTF GPU. This is because the GPU can't be operated without a compatible motherboard, which is why the bundle makes sense. The motherboard is also designed in collaboration with DIY-APE who're rolling out some impressive designs themselves.
The ASUS BTF lineup generally holds great aesthetics, and the newer entrants are no exception. They feature a white and teal color scheme and the "BTF" branding all over the chassis. It gives a distinctive look, and I believe ASUS has intentionally adopted a "futuristic" vibe with their BTF products.
However, the hindrance I believe that ASUS's BTF products will face is the industry's adoption of the innovation brought with them. ASUS has catered for this to some extent by offering a dedicated GT502 case, which is tuned to support the new connectors and cutouts; however, not everyone will prefer it in terms of general looks. The influx of compatible products will depend on the success of the implementation of ASUS's "GC-HPWR" connector, which only time will tell. Indicators do point out that GC-HPWR is the way to go in the future.
Now the decisive factor, ASUS is selling its BTF GPU and motherboard "packages" in China, priced at 6,998 RMB/USD$962. For those looking to go one step ahead, the motherboard, GPU, and the GT502 chassis package retail for 8,297 RMB/USD $1140. Bundles are certainly in the higher range; however, with the passage of time, prices would decrease, especially after the global release. The prices also reflect the slightly premium nature of these products since they will be a limited run in terms of production.
