Xbox has partnered with BWT Alpine F1 Team for a multi-year sponsor deal as "official console partner" alongside Microsoft's existing sponsorship.
Microsoft has been a sponsor of the Alpine F1 team, formerly known as the Renault F1 team, for quite some time. In addition to featuring the Microsoft logo on Alpine's F1 cars, we'll also see the Xbox and Game Pass logos on the Alpine cars and team environments at selected key races during the season starting at the Japanese Grand Prix this coming weekend. Alpine and Xbox announced the news through social media and via an official press release on Alpine's website.
An announcement video can be found below:
“We are extremely pleased to be partnering with Xbox, a household name and strong leader in the gaming industry", Alpine's VP of Sponsoring, Partnerships, and Communications, David Gendry writes. "Over the past years, we teamed up successfully on a few projects that reached successfully to our fans worldwide. We are now proud to consolidate this experience into a longer-term partnership, built on the foundation of our shared values with both Microsoft and Xbox.”
Xbox's CVP of Gaming Marketing Jerret West added: "Today’s announcement with Alpine continues our push to reach more fans around the world through their love of sports. Motorsports is one of the most exciting sports categories in the world, with a diverse fanbase that comes together to embrace the thrill of competitive racing. Xbox and Alpine share common values when it comes to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and we look forward to bringing the joy and community of gaming and racing to more people around the world through this exciting partnership.”
The Japanese Grand Prix at the Suzuka Circuit takes place from September 22nd (Friday) to September 24th (Sunday). The race will kick off on Sunday after qualification on Saturday. Whether we'll also be seeing the updated livery in EA's F1 2023 game remains to be seen, but as always, we'll let you know as soon as more information comes in.
