The Nintendo Switch 2 console may feature a custom version of NVIDIA DLSS upscaling technology, judging from a recent job ad from the Japanese company, which was discovered a few hours ago.
As reported by Doctre81 in a new YouTube video, Nintendo is looking to hire a Data Engineer to help with the integration of machine learning technologies on low-power embedded platforms. While this pretty much confirms DLSS support for the new Nintendo console, the job ad also provides some other interesting information, as among the tasks required from this engineer is the "optimization of machine learning models to fit power, memory and CPU budgets". This suggests not only that the Nintendo Switch 2 specs are finalized but also that the console may feature a custom version of NVIDIA's upscaler designed around the console's capabilities as well as other AI-powered tech.
The Nintendo Switch 2 supporting NVIDIA DLSS hardly required confirmation, as multiple recent reports revealed that the console was capable of running an updated version of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and the Unreal Engine 5 The Matrix Awakens demo at high resolution and framerates thanks to NVIDIA's upscaling technology when it was shown behind closed doors during this year's Gamescom. If the console features a custom version of the technology, it will be very interesting to see how it will compare to the regular version available for RTX GPUs and how it will work with the console's limited specs compared to those of high-end PCs.
