PS5 sales in Europe last month have increased almost 200% compared to August 2022.
That's what GamesIndustry's Christopher Dring writes on Twitter. The European market data for last month will be in tomorrow, but Dring reports that, across tracked markets in the EU, sales of the PlayStation 5 have made a major jump compared to the same month last year.
"I’ll have August’s European market data tomorrow", Dring writes on Twitter. "Sorry it’s late. Across tracked markets, PS5 sales up nearly 200% vs last August! Baldur’s Gate 3 data isn’t available, so FIFA was No.1 (boosted by a sale on Switch). In terms of single formats, Zelda is no.1 across Europe."
Interesting sales numbers, and it will be interesting to learn how many consoles have actually been sold in Europe across tracked markets. As reported earlier this month, PS5 sales in the UK jumped roughly 60% year-to-date, In addition, it's been reported that PS5 sales increased 42% compared to last month. Back in April of this year, Sony reported that the PS5 had become the best-selling console for the first quarter of any previous fiscal year ever, selling over 6.3 million units during Sony's first quarter of 2023.
As reported earlier, the PlayStation 5 is currently ahead of the PS4 in time-aligned sales. Last month, Sony published its financial results for the first quarter of its current Fiscal Year, revealing that PS5 sales have surpassed 41.7 million globally.
