The next major update for the popular MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV arrives next month, and Square Enix has revealed what we can look forward to. Update 6.5, entitled “Growing Light” will deliver the usual things you’d expect, including a new main story chapter, dungeon, and Unreal Trial, as well as… Fall Guys crossover content? Final Fantasy content has already come to Fall Guys, so I suppose it makes sense that the crossover is going the other way as well. Here's a quick rundown of the key content included in update 6.5…
- New Main Scenario Quests (Part 1) – The next chapter in the story of the Warrior of Light.
- New Dungeon – New challenges await in the Lunar Subterrane.
- New Trial: The Abyssal Fracture – A challenging new battle against Zeromus awaits in both Normal and Extreme difficulties.
- New Unreal Trial – Fight in the Singularity Reactor (Unreal) against the fearsome Thordan.
- New Alliance Raid: Myths of the Realm #3 – Explore the mysteries of Thaleia.
- Duty Support Expansion – With the addition of Duty Support to the Drowned City of Skalla, the Burn, and the Ghimlyt Dark dungeons, it is now possible to play through all main scenario dungeons from A Realm Reborn to Endwalker solo.
- Player Versus Player Updates -- PvP Series 5 Begins and Crystalline Conflict gets Minimap and UI Updates
- Island Sanctuary Updates – New sanctuary ranks, visions, and gathering area, as well as new materials, craftable items, crops, animals, isleworks handicrafts, structures, and more!
- The Manderville Gold Saucer: Fall Guys Collaboration -- The Fall Guys collaboration brings party royale excitement to the Gold Saucer. Harness your inner Bean to triumph over obstacles and rise above the rest!
- Miscellaneous Updates – Ability to store optional items in the armoire, as well as new fashion accessories, mounts, minions, emotes, and more!
- New Custom Deliveries Client: Margrat
- Various Job Adjustments
In addition to above Final Fantasy XIV 6.5 additions, players can look forward to update 6.51 in late October and 6.55 in early January. These updates will include more main scenario quests, a new Criterion Dungeon, PvP arena, and a bunch more. Of course, Square Enix has also revealed details of Final Fantasy XIV’s next big expansion, “Dawntrail,” which will arrive next summer. More info on that expansion will be revealed on October 21.
Final Fantasy XIV is available on PC, PS4, and PS5, and launches on Xbox Series X/S in early 2024. Update 6.5 drops on October 3.
