Scott Herkelman has announced that he is leaving AMD after three successive Radeon "RDNA" GPU launches and a commitment to delivering stiff competition to NVIDIA.
AMD's Scott Herkelman Decides To Leave AMD After Three Competitive RDNA GPU Launches
Scott Herkelman joined AMD seven years ago after he left NVIDIA where he served as the General Manager of GeForce. Scott was given the role of Senior Vice President & General Manager Graphics Business Unit at AMD and had various products and announcements revealed during his term. We got to see three RDNA GPU launches starting from RDNA 1 (Radeon RX 5000), the RDNA 2 (Radeon RX 6000) series, and the latest RDNA 3 (Radeon RX 7000) series.
After seven years at AMD and launching three increasingly competitive generations of RDNA graphics architectures, I have decided to leave AMD at the end of this year.

Scott is also well-known for his use of the word "jebait" and the various marketing statements that he used against NVIDIA. Whenever Scott was on the stage announcing a new product, he always brought a very competitive aura with him, showcasing slides that directly tackled NVIDIA such as the RX 7000 series against the RTX 40 series which he said won't be big or loud and won't use any 16-pin connectors due to burning issues. He was also very close to the community and was always quick to respond to various issues surrounding the Radeon GPUs and had a lot of interesting things to say during interviews.
In the last interview, Scott mentioned that the RDNA 3 lineup (ASIC) was now complete and I think that was the moment that he might've decided that it has been a great journey and it was time to take a break and let someone else take the mantle of the Radeon side. Now AMD has already revealed that Jack Huynh will be taking up Scott's spot who was previously in charge of the Semi-Custom group at the red team.
We wish lots of success to Scott Herkelman in his future endeavors and hope to see him soon in the tech world. We would also want to congratulate Jack Huynh on his new position & can't wait to see what he has to offer to the countless Radeon fans around the world.
