AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7000WX CPUs which will be part of the upcoming Storm Peak platform are now supported within the latest CPU-Z update.
CPU-Z Gives An Early Glimpse Of AMD Ryzen Threadripper 7000WX "Storm Peak" CPUs, Expected to Dominate Workstation Segment
CPU-Z and similar applications are our best bet to get to know about CPU lineups prior to their release since they often bring in preliminary support. CPU-Z was updated a while ago which disclosed the existence of "Storm Peak" CPUs, but it didn't tell about particular SKUs and their relevant core count but the latest version does confirm the core counts of AMD's next-gen Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7000WX CPUs. You can view the changelog below:
CPUZ 2.08
- Improved support of Intel Meteor Lake.
- Intel Core i5 14400F, 14400T, 14400, 14500 and 14500T.
- Intel Core i3 14100F, 14100T, and 14100.
- Intel 300 and 300T processors (RPL, 2c, 65/35W).
- AMD Threadripper PRO 7995WX (STP, 96c), 7985WX (STP, 64c), 7975WX (STP, 32c), 7955WX (STP, 16c) and 7945WX (STP).
- Preliminary support for AMD EPYC Bergamo.
- Fixed delay generated by version checking
The above information yet again backs the claims of five different SKUs within the "Storm Peak" Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7000WX CPU lineup, with the highest-core count up to 96 cores. The CPUs will feature AMD's Zen 4 architecture and increased core counts with the flagship featuring up to 96 cores and 192 threads.
This time AMD plans on shifting to the new TRX50 platform for its Threadripper lineup, which is expected to provide a significant performance bump with support for PCIe Gen 5.0 and DDR5 memory. The lineup will be segmented into two families, one with support for 8-channel and the other with support for 4-channel DDR5 memory. The former will incorporate higher PCIe Gen 5.0 lanes too.
AMD Ryzen Threadripper 7000 "Storm Peak" CPUs are expected to launch somewhere at the end of this year, although a release date hasn't been specified yet. Based on the CPU-Z listings, we can say that the launch is indeed near.
