AMD's CEO, Dr. Lisa Su, recently talked about NVIDIA's exponential growth due to AI developments in recent times since Team Green has been able to post some "shocking" revenue figures in its last earnings. After entering the trillion-dollar club, NVIDIA has more plans for the future, committed to generating over $300 billion through AI-driven sales by 2027. AMD's CEO sees the "rapid growth" as a deep broad ditch, throwing shades at NVIDIA, showing that the company has no "influence" over their competitor's recent accomplishments.

AMD believes in an open-source approach, which provides everyone a level-playing field where even an individual developer can access the advantages of a "unary" ecosystem. Google's Deepmind CEO also presented a similar ideology in an interview with The Verge, claiming that open-source models are way more efficient and lead to a more "pound-to-pound" value. Commenting on the AI GPU shortage, Lisa Su reiterated that genAI developments are at their peak, which is the primary reason behind the scarcity.
If you think about the technology trends that we've seen over the last 10, 20 years ... AI is 10 times, 100 times more than that in terms of how it's impacting everything that we do.
It's that big. So the fact there's a shortage of GPUs, I think it's not surprising because people recognize how important the technology is.

If you look at the current situation of AMD, it is obvious that they are on the back foot since NVIDIA has accelerated deep into the "AI frenzy." Team Green's dominance with H100 GPUs has led them to a potential "monopoly," the only way this could be broken is if competitors like AMD & Intel step up their game. AMD will have its first true AI chip under the Instinct Mi300 series launching later in the year and there are several AI startups that have started switching to AMD due to the long wait times for acquiring NVIDIA AI GPUs.
It will be interesting to see how the future pans out, notably for companies like NVIDIA, since they are currently at the pinnacle of the transition of the AI industry.
