NVIDIA has unveiled the schedule of its GTC 2024 (Graphics Technology Conference), starting on March 18, 2024, at the San Jose Conventional Center.
NVIDIA Yet Again Plans on Making GTC 2024 All About "AI", Setting The Tone For Industry's Future
GTC 2024 is still far away; however, Team Green has announced the official dates almost five months early. The conference holds a special place amongst the tech community, mainly since companies like NVIDIA disclose information about their upcoming products scheduled for the yearly "upgrade cycle". Not to mention that the appearance of NVIDIA's CEO Jensen Huang is often a delight to see since his personality sets the tone for the rest of the event.
While NVIDIA hasn't revealed any details about what the company's keynote will feature, it will revolve around AI. NVIDIA has been constantly hyping up its "Blackwell" GPUs for the HPC and AI industry, which will indeed mark the transition to what we can say is the "future" of AI computing chips. While details regarding the architecture are slim, the GPUs are expected to utilize TSMC's 3nm process and are rumored to be the first batch of NVIDIA's AI GPUs to feature a chiplet design, replacing the traditional "monolithic" standard. The Blackwell GPUs will replace NVIDIA's Hopper which are the most sought after AI chips at the moment and production is said to commence by the second half of 2024.
At the consumer end, we are unaware of anything the company planned, at least according to what the industry rumors have said. NVIDIA's gaming-centered "Ada Lovelace-Next" GPUs, are expected to launch sometime in 2025 but it is unlikely that we will get to hear about them at GTC as the last few events have shown us. They are very much HPC/AI-centric with a few consumer-grade software announcements such as SteerLM/Nemo demos during the past GTCs. GTC 2024 holds excitement amongst everyone, and we can't wait to see how the announcements shape the industry's future.
