Halo Infinite Season 5 Adds Firefight and Extraction Modes, New Maps, Mark VI Armor, More

Halo Infinite has struggled somewhat since launch to deliver consistent, satisfying content updates, but it sounds like the upcoming Season 5, entitled “Reckoning,” will be fairly meaty. Players can look forward to a pair of returning play options, including the co-op wave defense Firefight Mode, and Halo 4’s objective-based Extraction mode.

In addition to the new modes, Halo Infinite players can look forward a couple new maps (Prism and Forbidden), Flood-themed cosmetics, and the new Mark VI Armor Kit. Meanwhile, Forge creators will also be given the more options to tweak enemy AI, allowing for a wider range of custom modes. You can check out a trailer for Halo Infinite Season 5, below.

Looks like a fan-pleasing collection of stuff. Too bad 343 Industries didn’t deliver more stuff like this sooner in Halo Infinite’s lifespan, but better late than never I suppose. Here’s an official rundown of everything coming in Season 5…

  • Infect your Spartan and weapons with all-new Flood customization items.
  • Venture into crystal caves (watch out for those blamite crystals!) and ancient, mysterious stone ruins on two new Arena maps—Prism and Forbidden.
  • Create your own PvE experiences with the new Forge AI toolkit, and stay tuned for the arrival of Firefight King of the Hill in matchmaking.
  • Level up your customization game by equipping any helmet across all Armor Cores.
  • Complete your Career Rank journey and obtain the rank of Hero to unlock the Infinite Mark VI Armor Kit.
  • Halo 4’s Extraction mode returns, reimagined for Halo Infinite.
  • Earn XP to advance your Battle Pass in Custom Games.

343 promises to reveal more about Halo Infinite Season 5 over the coming days. In the meantime, you can get a last taste of Halo Infinite Season 4, which reintroduced the Infection mode, added a couple of new maps, more Forge options, and more.

Halo Infinite can be played on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. Season 5 “Reckoning” will arrive on October 17. What do you think? Does this latest season look like a worthwhile update?
