A massive Mortal Kombat 1 patch is now live for the Nintendo Switch version of the game, packing some critical improvements such as visual and performance improvements.
The new patch, which is around 27 GB big, also introduces the first season of Invasions, gameplay balance changes, leaderboard fixes, loading time improvements, stability, and localization fixes.
While Mortal Kombat 1 on Nintendo Switch still leaves something to be desired, compared to the other console versions and the PC release, the patch did bring some noticeable improvements. Loading times, for example, have been cut significantly in some instances, and performance is considerably smoother, as highlighted in a video by Madlittlepixel so the game is in a much better state than it was at launch last month.
Mortal Kombat 1 is yet another solid entry in the series developed by NetherRealm Studios, featuring satisfying action, a polished presentation on current-gen consoles and PC, an engaging story, and some interesting twists to the formula, as highlighted by Nathan in his review.
Mortal Kombat 1 is one of the franchise’s most bloody-entertaining entries to date, offering up refined action, smartly revamped fighters, and a story mode that delivers a surprisingly-coherent plot and plenty of blockbuster thrills. A lack of compelling modes and meaningful character customization does hurt, but the game should be a heart-ripping hit with fans even if the overall package is slightly anemic.
Mortal Kombat 1 is now available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Nintendo Switch.
