South Korean developer NEOWIZ announced that its Soulslike game Lies of P has managed to sell more than one million units in less than a month from its release. It is undoubtedly an impressive figure for a new IP, and doubly so since the game is available on Game Pass.
Loosely inspired by Carlo Collodi's classic Pinocchio fairy tale, Lies of P turned out to be a surprisingly solid Soulslike game with very few drawbacks. The game earned an 8 out of 10 score in Wccftech's review, where Francesco De Meo wrote:
Wearing its influences on its sleeves, Lies of P is a solid imitation of FromSoftware's Bloodborne that manages to stay fun for the entire duration of a single playthrough of around 20 hours despite a marked lack of innovation. While the callbacks and nods to the game that inspired it may be a little too blatant, NEOWIZ has developed a solid game that all soulslike fans can enjoy if they can keep their expectations in check.
Not even attempting to hide the massive influence Bloodborne has had on it, Lies of P is a solid imitation of the game developed by FromSoftware. While it lacks the same combat and world design finesse of its illustrious inspiration, the action role-playing game by NEOWIZ is among the most accomplished soulslike game released this year, thanks to its dark retelling of the story of Pinocchio, combat and character customization tweaks and great enemy design.
There are no DLCs currently planned for Lies of P. However, that might change, given the game's obvious commercial success. Should there be any official announcements from NEOWIZ or even rumors through the grapevine, we'll be sure to report it here on Wccftech; stay tuned.
By the way, if you've got a GeForce RTX 40 Series GPU, LukeFZ has released a free DLSS 3 (Frame Generation) mod to further boost performance.
