The Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1 has been made available for pre-load, and we now have more details about the file sizes of the original Metal Gear Solid games.
The download file sizes for Metal Gear Solid 1, Metal Gear Solid 2, and Metal Gear Solid 3 as well as bonus content have been revealed by the Metal Gear Network Twitter account. On Xbox, the first Metal Gear Solid game in the collection clocks in at 8.45GB. Meanwhile, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty weighs in at 16.06GB. The third entry in the series, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater requires 14.77GB of free space, and the bonus content clocks in at roughly 654MB.
I jumped the gun when I said PS5, sorry everyone!! It seems pre-load is only on Xbox for now, but its coming to all platforms very very soon, keep checking!

Looking at these file sizes, some might be confused about how big these actually are compared to the original releases. One has to consider, however, that we aren't looking at a simple re-release of only the main games. For instance, Metal Gear Solid 1 also includes VR Missions, Special Missions, and the expanded version of the original game (which is basically a relocalized version of the game with plenty of additional content).
Everyone seems to be baffled about the sizes. There are multiple reasons for this. A lot of this confusion is why I'll be releasing my video later tonight that addresses the confusion around the Master Collection. Just for example though.
You aren't just getting Metal Gear…

As covered last month, the first Metal Gear Solid in the collection will be locked at 1080p and 30FPS on PC and consoles. Both Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater will be locked at 1080p and 60FPS. Be sure to check out this early comparison video of the collection running on PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Switch to see how they compare.
Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 releases later this month on October 24 for PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and Nintendo Switch. The collection was announced back in June of this year, and as spotted shortly after the collection's announcement, The Master Collection Vol. 2 might very well include Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots as well as Peace Walker.
