September is almost upon us, which means PS Plus Essential tier subscribers will have a new short-list of free games to try out. It also might be time to renew your subscription, because Sony has announced that 12-month subscription prices are going up for every tier next month.
Starting soon, these will be the price for 12-month PS Plus subscriptions...
PlayStation Plus Essential 12-Month Subscription
- 79.99 USD | 71.99 Euro | 59.99 GBP | 6,800 Yen
PlayStation Plus Extra 12-Month Subscription
- 134.99 USD | 125.99 Euro | 99.99 GBP | 11,700 Yen
PlayStation Plus Premium 12-Month Subscription
- 159.99 USD | 151.99 Euro | 119.99 GBP | 13,900 Yen
These new prices will come into effect on September 6. For the sake of comparison, the soon-to-expire 12-month subscription prices are $60 for PS Plus Essential, $100 for Extra, and $120 for Premium. So, it seems Sony is particularly targeting Extra subscribers with this price hike. Sony hasn’t specified whether 1 and 3-month subscriptions will also be going up, but they say that a 12-month subscription will still represent a per-month bargain in comparison to them.
Meanwhile, here are your September PS Plus Essential titles. As previously leaked, Saints Row is one of them. That game will be joined by the MMO Black Desert and the co-op shooter Generation Zero. These games will be available on September 5…
Saints Row (PS4, PS5)
“Experience the biggest and best Saints Row playground ever created. The unique sprawling world of Santo Ileso is the backdrop for a wild, larger than life sandbox of thrilling side hustles, criminal ventures and blockbuster missions, as you shoot, drive and wingsuit your way to the top. Take over the city block by block, wage war against enemy factions and tighten your grip on the streets. Play online with a friend at any time, via fully untethered drop-in / drop out co-op, skipping the need to take either of you out of the outlandish action.”
Black Desert – Traveler Edition (PS4)
From Wccftech’s review – “Black Desert Online is the most refreshingly unique MMO around. Introducing many new game mechanics and ways to play in a world that's so exquisitely designed, with characters, building, monsters and even the weather all working together to make the best looking MMO to have ever been released, BDO is only really let down by the game's unwillingness and/or inability to properly explain its mechanics.”
Generation Zero (PS4, PS5)
From Wccftech’s review – “Generation Zero is a game that has fantastic potential but falls short in so many areas. The Excellent combat and generally great atmosphere is let down by a myriad of bugs, a very limited range of enemies to face off against, boring quests and a world that is just too large and sterile, particularly if played alone.”
