Intel Core i9-14900K CPU Up To 5% Faster Than Core i9-13900K In Cinebench 2024 Benchmark

Intel's Next-Gen Core i9-14900K 6 GHz CPU Benchmarked: Up To 9% Faster Than 13900K In Single-Core Tests 1

The latest benchmarks of Intel's Core i9-14900K Flagship CPU have leaked within Cinebench 2024 & show a small gain over the Core i9-13900K.

Intel Core i9-14900K & Core i9-13900K Offer Almost Similar Performance In Leaked Cinebench 2024 CPU Benchmark

The Intel Core i9-14900K has had no shortage of leaks since we have already seen various tests and fully reported on the specifications of this chip. The Intel Core i9-14900K is simply a refresh of the i9 13900K with a slight clock speed bump so we should expect mostly similar performance with slight benefits in applications that can utilize the higher clock speeds. However, higher clock speeds also result in higher power draw, requiring hefty cooling solutions as the Core i9-13900K itself is a hard chip to run under 90-100C.

Starting with the specs, the Intel Core i9-14900K CPU will feature 24 cores & 32 threads in an 8+16 configuration. The CPU will feature up to 36 MB of Smart Cache and a base TDP of 125W (253W PL2). It will feature clock speeds of 3.2 GHz at base & up to 6.0 GHz with a Thermal Velocity Boost. This will be a +200 MHz frequency jump over the Core i9-13900K and the same as the Core i9-13900KS. The CPU was recently spotted in retail with prices of $695 US which is a +15.8% hike over its predecessor but we shouldn't consider this the "Final" retail price yet.

The platform on which the CPU was tested featured an ASUS ROG Maximus Z790 HERO board, a Noctua NH-D15 CPU cooler, and running an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 GPU. The memory setup is equipped with four DDR5-5600 (48 GB) memory.

The Intel Core i9-14900K CPU was tested in the newly released Cinebench 2024 benchmark and scored 2161 points in single-core and 128 points in multi-core tests using the 253W PL2 profile. For comparison, we used our trusty Intel Core i9-13900KS and Core i9-13900K CPUs for comparison & you can see the results below:

In the benchmarks above, you can see that the Intel Core i9-14900K is barely faster than the Core i9-13900KS and Core i9-13900K in single-threaded benchmarks. The multi-threaded scores see a 5% performance boost over the Core i9-13900K and a 2.5% gain over the Core i9-13900KS but that's about it. We will be adding the Ryzen 9 7950X and Ryzen 9 7950X3D scores to the list shortly as the single-core test takes a bit of time to complete.

Intel may have pushed the Intel Core i9-14900K just enough to reclaim any single or multi-core crown that it might have lost to AMD but the tradeoff that comes in the form of higher power & heat output is a major concern. This chip will be aimed at the enthusiast segment running custom-loop cooling solutions and high-end configurations so maybe the heat/power concerns may not matter to such PC builders. In any case, the Core i9-14900K and the rest of the two "Unlocked" SKUs will be announced later this month at the Innovation event.
