MSI's Z790 MAX motherboards are out and they come with a brand new BIOS feature called "P-Core Beyond 6 GHz" which allows a 1-click boost for Intel's upcoming 14th Gen CPUs to hit up to 6.3 GHz clock speeds.

The latest feature has been revealed by well-known leaker, chi11eddog, who shows a snippet of the MSI MEG Z790 ACE motherboard BIOS where you will be able to find the brand new tuning option. The CPU is not mentioned but this should be the Intel Core i9-14900K which boasts a 6 GHz single-core clock speed, the same as the Core i9-13900KS. The motherboard was also running DDR5-8000 memory which shows the capabilities of these new MAX series motherboards in supporting higher-speed DIMMs.
The MSI MAX "P-Core Beyond 6 GHz+" feature will be disabled by default but opening the tuning setting reveals a range of options that the user can select. The first clock speed is the maximum single-core frequency and the second clock speed is the maximum all-core frequency. The CPUs will be able to operate at up to 6.3 GHz single-core and up to 5.8 GHz all-core frequencies with the P-Core Beyond profile enabled.
This feature will automatically adjust the CPU and Motherboard to hit the required power settings to achieve such high frequencies though auto-tuning could result in unnecessarily high voltages so this is only good for less experienced users.
Overclocking enthusiasts will still find the manual tuning options a better choice for themselves as that provides the best results.
