Assassin’s Creed Mirage – How to Assassinate Order Member Al-Ghul “The Slaver”

Published:

Assassin's Creed Mirage

Assassin’s Creed Mirage is the latest in Ubisoft’s blockbuster series, and a bit of a throwback to an earlier time for the series. Rather than a big overstuffed RPG, Mirage is more of a traditional action-adventure experience, and as such, some folks more used to recent games like Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and Valhalla may need to adjust slightly.

Note:  The following guide contains SPOILERS for Assassin’s Creed Mirage.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage offers up a lot of different challenges, but the core of its campaign are its main five “black box” missions that see you taking out important member of the Order. The first of tasks you with taking out Al-Ghul, aka “The Slaver,” who has set up shop in the Caravanserai, an outdoor market on the outskirts of Baghdad. This guy really has it coming, so here’s how you take him out…

Note: Directions in a guide like this can be tricky, as the market you’re exploring doesn’t sit perfectly on a north/south/east/west axis. What I’ll describe as the east wall contains the front entrance, the west wall is the one with the back entrance, large building, and balcony, the north wall is where the secret entrance is, and, of course, the south wall is opposite that.

In order to kill Al-Ghul, you need to lure him out of his chambers. There are two ways to do this, one involves creating a distraction using a merchant, the other involves rallying Al-Ghul’s workers. We’ll take you through both scenarios.

The Merchant

Assassin's Creed Mirage

  • Step 1 – Do a flyover of the area with your trusty eagle Enkidu. This will allow you to mark all the key areas and the all-important secret entrance.
  • Step 2 – The merchant you need to talk to is near the front gate of Caravanserai, to the right of the entrance. He will ask you to retrieve some silks and other goods of his that have been taken. These are located in the southwest corner of the Caravanserai.
  • Step 3 – Time to sneak into Caravanserai. Head right around the north side of  the market and find the secret entrance. Jump into the small stream, dive underwater, and swim under the wall. As you emerge there is a guard with his back to you. Take them out.
  • Step 4 – Okay, now it’s time to get over to where the merchant’s stolen goods are. The safest way to do this is to head up onto the walls/ramparts. You can either head right from where you emerged from the water and go up the stairs or take a little risk and head into the central courtyard area and use the pulley near the big building to zip up onto the roof. If you headed up the stairs there are a couple guards to kill, but both are very easy to sneak up on. From there head up the ladder onto the roof of the big building.
  • Step 5 – On top of the big building there are two guards – one stationary archer and one guy patrolling. Take them out.
  • Step 6 – You now have a nice elevated view of the southwest section of the walls. The stolen goods you’re looking for are underneath the walls at ground level. There are four guards stationed on top of the walls – one guy training, one stationary archer, another stationary guy near the stairs, and one guy patrolling. Drop down and carefully take them all out.
  • Step 7 – You’ll note there are some crates suspended in the air here, marked in orange when using Eagle Vision. You can cut these down with a throwing knife, which will cause a commotion and distract many of the guards at ground level.
  • Step 8 – Go down the stairs in the southwest corner of the Caravanserai, head down a short hallway, then turn your attention to your left. There is a small semi-closed-in area under the wall that contains a chest and the stolen silks. If you caused a distraction with the falling crates there may be no guards in this area. Otherwise, there will be a couple guards you’ll have to kill while making sure nobody from the main courtyard is spying on you.
  • Step 9 – Grab the silks, head back up the stairs onto the walls, then creep along the ladder shown above and drop over the back wall. Then beeline around the outside of the market back to the merchant.
  • Step 10 – The merchant and his entourage will start making a fuss, which will draw out Al-Ghul onto his balcony. You have two options for killing him. You can either head back to the secret entrance, climb back onto the walls and get the drop on Al-Ghul. Alternatively, you can blend in with the merchant’s entourage, make your way right through the middle of the courtyard, then simply scramble up on the balcony and kill Al-Ghul when he emerges.

Rally the “Workers”

  • Step 1 – Sneak into the Caravanserai via the secret entrance described in Step 3 in the previous section.
  • Step 2 – Now, head left and talk to the “worker” (as you’ll find out, he’s really more of a slave) under the north wall. He will ask you to talk his “handler” into freeing the workers.
  • Step 3 – Several possible locations for the handler are marked on the map, but only one of them is actually correct. He’s pretty much directly opposite the worker under the walls on the south side of the Caravanserai. Use social stealth to blend in with the groups of people in the courtyard, while making sure to avoid the case of patrolling guards.
  • Step 4 – Talk to the handler/slave owner. He’ll ask a ridiculous amount to buy their deed, which you almost certainly won’t have. But don’t worry, you can just pickpocket him.
  • Step 5 – Return the deed to the worker and he’ll begin loudly declaring his freedom, luring Al-Ghul out. Kill him in the same way described in Step 10 in the section above.

And there you have it! The first big bad Order member taken out – but certainly not the last.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage is available now on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, and PS5. You can check out Wccftech’s other AC Mirage guides here.
