AMD may have plans to launch a new Radeon RX 7600 XT graphics card featuring a massive 16 GB memory, twice that of the RX 7600.
AMD Radeon RX 7600 XT Graphics Card Might Be Launching In Early 2024 With Twice The Memory of Non-XT Variant
The AMD Radeon RX 7600 graphics card is a decent mainstream product retailing in the $250 US segment these days. The card offers RX 6600 XT levels of performance while being slightly more efficient and offering new technologies. However, AMD has a huge gap between its RX 7600 and the latest 7700 XT/7800 XT cards.
According to Benchlife, AMD might introduce a new variant to fill in this gap known as the Radeon RX 7600 XT. This graphics card might be positioned in the $300-$350 US range which would make the lineup look more complete but the biggest upgrade over the RX 7600 Non-XT would be double the memory.
If there are no surprises, NVIDIA is expected to launch GeForce RTX 3050 6GB in January 2024, while AMD may launch Radeon RX 7600 XT 16GB.
It is reported that the AMD Radeon RX 7600 XT might feature a massive 16 GB memory which is 2x the amount featured on the Non-XT model with 8 GB memory. It isn't reported which RDNA 3 ASIC the card would utilize but a guess would be that this would be based on a cut-down Navi 32 SKU as the top Navi 33 SKU is already utilized by the Non-XT variant. It would be weird to put an "XT" tag on a Navi 33 SKU with the same specs as the RX 7600 and give it double the memory.
We have already seen what happens when a lowly bus interface is equipped with a huge memory pool on the RTX 4060 Ti 16 GB cards. They virtually offer no performance improvement & the GPUs aren't designed for high-res gaming either. So a very cut-down Navi 32 ASIC with just two MCDs on board might be the choice for this new graphics card but we have to wait & see if AMD even plans on releasing such a product. Previous preliminary listings have shown the card with 10 GB and 12 GB memory.
The company will be diversifying its mobility portfolio soon with the high-end Radeon RX 7900M and we can expect a few new desktop products down the line too.
