AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7995WX 96 Core CPU Shatters Cinebench Performance Benchmarks, Almost 150K Score

Published:

AMD's Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7995WX is officially the fastest workstation CPU to date as revealed in the latest performance benchmarks.

AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7995WX 96-Core CPU Crushes Intel Xeon, Leads In All Performance Metrics & Scores Big In Cinebench Benchmark

The AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7995WX CPU is the flagship chip within the new Threadripper 7000 family. The chip is outfitted with 96 cores based on the Zen 4 core architecture, 192 threads, and clock speeds set at 2.50 GHz (Base) / 5.15 GHz (Boost). The chip offers 384 MB of cache and up to 128 PCIe Gen 5.0 lanes, making it an insane chip for workstation users. With such big specs also comes a big price and the 7995WX has a retail MSRP of $9999 US.

Soon after yesterday's reveal, PCMag published its early performance preview of the AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7995WX CPU featured within Dell's Precision 7875 which comes loaded with a 512 GB array of DDR5 ECC memory, dual NVIDIA RTX 6000 Ada GPUs, and Windows 11 Enterprise OS. The outlet pitted the 7995WX against the Xeon W9-3495X, Threadripper PRO 5995WX, and the Ryzen 9 7950X.

The benchmark which showed the most notable improvement was Cinebench R23 where the AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7995WX CPU turned out to be 56% faster than the Ryzen Threadripper PRO 5995WX and 81% faster than the Xeon W9-3495X. The CPU was also able to complete a render within Blender with twice the time savings compared to the other two chips.

In addition to the stock performance figures, Videocardz was also able to grab a screenshot of an overclocked performance figure from a press event showcasing the capabilities of the Threadripper CPUs and the chip posted an insane performance number of 148,719 points in the same test. The CPU was overclocked to 4.4 GHz across all of its 96 cores and the power consumption hit a peak of 620W.

It is also reported that like the standard DIY chips, the PRO CPUs also fully support OC within the Ryzen Master software utility. Liquid Nitrogen was used to sustain these high clock speeds as standard cooling would have had no chance of keeping all those cores fed with 4 GHz+ clocks with a TDP of over 600W.

HWBOT Cinebench R23 World Record Rankings:

AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7995WX 96 Core CPU Shatters Cinebench Performance Benchmarks, Almost 150K Score 3

Comparing the overclocked results to other chips, you can note that the 7995WX is on par with two EPYC 9654 chips, each featuring 96 cores and 192 threads. The score is also 12% ahead of the Intel Xeon W9-3495X world record and 23% ahead of the Threadripper 5995WX world record. There still seems to be some headroom for overclocking and we can definitely expect the CPU to break past the 150K barrier once it launches in November.
