Teamgroup has a brand new SSD heatsink solution that is designed specifically for the Sony PS5 console and can lower temperatures by a great degree.
Is Your Sony PS5 Console SSD Running Hot? Teamgroup Has The Perfect Heatsink Solution For You!
The Sony PS5 console comes with an upgradeable SSD slot which users can swap with the storage solution of their choice. Almost every SSD manufacturer has an SSD specifically designed for Sony's PS5 console under the NVMe M.2 PCIe 4.0 standard. As we have seen with consumer-grade devices in the past, the Gen 4.0 solutions can get a bit hot, especially the higher-end ones which means that they require a good amount of cooling.
The only cooling offered by the Sony PS5 console to the SSD is air blowing out of the exhaust vents by the main fan. Since this is heat dissipated from the SoC, the hot air can adversely affect the SSD performance which warrants a need to get a good cooling solution. Teamgroup has designed a new heatsink known as the T-Force AL1 which is going to offer better cooling.
According to Teamgroup, the T-Force AL1 heatsink is designed in a way that makes it easy to install with all SSD sizes and seamlessly attaches to the SSD. The whole thing is an aluminum heatsink that measures 127 x 65.5 x 15.5mm and weighs in at 78g. It is designed in accordance with the PS5 specifications. As for cooling potential, the Teamgroup T-Force AL1 heatsink can provide cooling potential anywhere from 15 to 25C which is impressive. Since Gen 4.0 drives normally operate at around 60-65C, this would mean users can enjoy sub-50C temperatures while their consoles run fast as ever.
Teamgroup hasn't mentioned the pricing of the T-Force AL1 SSD heatsink but it is expected to be very affordable which would make it a great solution to pair with a mainstream Gen 4.0 storage drive.
