Success in the AEW: Fight Forever “Road to Elite” career mode heavily depends on upgrading your skills, but which ones should you pick? During a typical Road to Elite playthrough, you’re only going to be able to choose a select few skills, and some are definitely more useful than others. Obviously, what you pick is up to you, there’s really no wrong answer, but here are some very useful ones you shouldn't pass on.
Momentum Rate
It’s largely up to you which basic stat skills to update, and some are so obviously beneficial it doesn’t really bear mentioning. Like, obviously, having stronger strikes and grapples is probably a good thing. That said, do make sure to boost your Momentum Rate as soon as possible. AEW: Fight Forever is all about building momentum, so you're going to want to be able to do it as quickly as possible.
Guardbreak
If momentum is very important in Fight Forever, the other core mechanic is guarding. As such, this skill, which allows you to break an opponent’s guard with a strong strike, is very useful to the point of being kind of overpowered. But hey, that’s not your problem.
Bail Out
One of the slightly frustrating things about Fight Forever is there isn’t always a lot you can do to defend yourself or get back into the match when you’re down on the mat. At least there isn’t until you unlock Bail Out, which allows you to roll out of the ring to safety when knocked down.
Kip Up
Similarly to Bail Out, Kip Up gives you another option for when you’ve been put on your back. This skill either lets you get up with a press of the circle button (or Xbox equivalent) when you have your Signature or Special, or pop back up right after you’ve been slammed, provided you have the right timing.
Grit
Has your opponent hit their Special? Does it seem to be all over? Well, if you unlock Grit you may still be able to score that miracle last-second kickout.
Tit for Tat
But hey, better to not let your opponent even land that Special! This one can boost your momentum to max once your opponent earns their Special, allowing you to go toe-to-toe with your own.
Elite Defense
Yet another skill that can keep your opponent from properly finishing the match. This skill gives you a chance to reverse a finisher, which will also result in a big swing in momentum from your opponent to you.
