As such, Embracer officially ceases all operations in Russia, improving the company's cash flow and reducing future liabilities. Embracer Group gobbled up a lot of studios during its 2020-era spending spree, but perhaps the biggest acquisitions were Saber Interactive (World War Z, many, many ports) and Gearbox Software (Borderlands). It’s clear Embracer had big plans for Saber and Gearbox, as both were spun into entire company divisions with other smaller studios reporting to them, but those plans have changed – Embracer’s fortunes took a turn when a $2 billion investment from Saudi Arabia fell through and the company has been desperately cutting costs since. Apparently, this means two of their crown jewels have to go. According to Bloomberg’s […]

While they weren’t quite the blockbuster sellers their publishers hoped they’d be, the recent Deus Ex titles from developer Eidos Montreal have a pretty rabid fanbase who are always eager for any news of Adam Jensen’s return. Back in 2022 the reliable Jason Schreier let slip that Eidos Montreal was moving forward with a new Deus Ex following the acquisition of the IP and studio by Embracer Group. Of course, that was a very different time for Embracer. A time when it seemed pretty much anything could get greenlit at the company and they proudly boasted of the hundreds of […]
