A Noob Trader Shorts Copper Because Of The Public Backlash Against The Olympic Bronze Medal, Gets Margin Called And Loses All Of His Savings

Amateurs are destined to err. After all, it is through our mistakes that we learn some of the most important lessons that life can teach. Yet, some mistakes are just so mind-bogglingly stupid, you cannot but help wonder that there has to have been a great cosmic joke if humans are meant to represent the apex of intelligent species in the known universe. Consider the recent case of an amateur trader who established a short position in copper without understanding the metal's global pricing dynamics. Just a few hours back, an amateur trader, who goes by the moniker Glittering-Acadia774 and […]

Elon Musk’s Love For Crypto Is Returning After Winning Dogecoin Lawsuit

Tesla CEO Elon Musk wants to bring back Dogecoin as a payment method for merchandise on its website. Musk's latest comments on Dogecoin were made on the social media platform X, and are among the few of their kind since the cryptocurrency crash in the aftermath of the Federal Reserve's latest interest rate hike cycle. The billionaire had become one of Bitcoin and Dogecoin's most ardent supporters during the pandemic when his car company revealed that it was holding Bitcoin, and his rocket company SpaceX eventually accepted payment in Dogecoin for a mission to the Moon that hasn't materialized since. NVIDIA CEO Sells $580 Million In Stock In 2024 – More Than 5x Of Other Executives

NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang has been busy selling shares since June after the firm's stock peaked and made it the most valuable company in the world for a brief. Huang's latest SEC filing, made yesterday, shows that he sold $14.2 million in stock yesterday. This brings his cumulative share sales since the second week of June to a cool $579 million, allowing the executive to benefit from his position as one of the richest people in the world. NVIDIA's stock has lost its steam since June after Wall Street's newfound caution around artificial intelligence has seen investors shift their focus […]

SpaceX Returns To Launch In Style As FAA Puts Naysayers To Rest

After a brief pause in its launch operations after the Falcon 9 tipped over and crashed on its recovery ship, SpaceX returned to launch in style by launching back to back Starlink missions from Florida and California. 2024, which has seen the firm aim at launching more than 140 flights, has also seen it aggressively focus on launches from California to bolster its manifest and build out the Starlink internet constellation. SpaceX's launches came mere hours after the FAA confirmed in a statement that it was cleared to conduct operations while an investigation was ongoing. Crucially for SpaceX, not only […]

OpenAI Considering Removing Cap On Profits For Investors – Report

Microsoft backed OpenAI is considering changing its legal structure in order to woo more investors, as per a report from the Financial Times. The firm, which pushed artificial intelligence into the limelight in 2022, has been busy expanding its services since then. Its current structure, which sees a for profit division overseen by a nonprofit model, has been criticized by several quarters, with one of the most vocal critics being Elon Musk. Now, as per three people quoted by the FT, OpenAI is interested in 'simplifying' its business as part of a process that could remove limits set on investors […]

The “Thermonuclear Lawsuit” Lobbed By Elon Musk’s X Against Media Matters Is Now Heading To Trial

Elon Musk had promised to go full scorched-earth against Media Matters in late 2023 for the non-profit's purportedly underhanded tactics to try to paint X as a platform that was rife with antisemitic content. Now, that "thermonuclear lawsuit" that X had filed shortly thereafter is finally heading for a high-profile trial. As a refresher, in late 2023, a number of big-ticket advertisers, including Apple, Disney, Comcast, IBM, etc. had halted their advertisements on the X platform after Media Matters showed that some anti-Semitic content was found displayed adjacent to IBM's adverts. Elon Musk responded to the resulting growing wave of […]

Sovereign AI Plays Officially Arrive: The US Government Gains Access To Major Models From OpenAI And Anthropic Before Their Public Release

With AI expected to act as a foundational pillar for generating economic growth in the decades to come, it is not a surprise that governments around the globe are now attempting to geofence critical elements of this still-nascent technology in what is being dubbed as sovereign AI plays. In this vein, the US has just taken a major step toward "safe and trustworthy AI innovation" by inking agreements with OpenAI and Anthropic. The U.S. Artificial Intelligence Safety Institute At The Department Of Commerce’s National Institute Of Standards And Technology (NIST) Inks First-Of-Their-Kind Agreements With OpenAI And Anthropic As a presumably […]

SpaceX’s Falcon Program VP Says Landing Mishap Did Not Threaten Public Safety

SpaceX's vice president of Falcon launch vehicles, John Edwards, has stressed that yesterday's Falcon 9 landing anomaly that saw the booster crash into the recovery drone ship stemmed from a faulty recovery attempt that carried no risks to the rocket's overall mission profile. His comments are important since the FAA has required an investigation from SpaceX for the landing failure, and as per Edwards, the rocket did not pose a threat to its primary mission or public safety. When read together with the FAA's statement following the accident, the SpaceX executive's comments indicate that the Falcon 9 could fly sooner […]

As the results became official, NVIDIA's shares […]

NVIDIA’s Third-Largest Customer – Super Micro Computer (SMCI) – Withholds 10-K Filing Just A Day After A Short Research Report

The timing could not have been worse. In what is now being interpreted as a validation of sorts for the recently released short research report against it, Super Micro Computer (SMCI) shares are crashing today after the manufacturer of high-performance servers withheld a critical regulatory filing to allow for additional internal scrutiny of its financial reports. To wit, Super Micro Computer released a press statement just moments ago, announcing that "it will not timely file its Annual Report on Form 10-K for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2024 ..." The statement goes on to note: "Additional time is needed […]

SpaceX Rocket Tips Over & Crashes On Ship In Another Rare, Fiery Mishap

In another rare mishap, a SpaceX Falcon 9 booster collapsed on the recovery drone ship just moments back after sending the firm's latest batch of Starlink satellites to orbit. The booster, as per SpaceX, was a veteran rocket as it had conducted its 23rd launch today before unfortunately being unable to maintain its orientation after landing on the firm's A Shortfall of Gravitas drone ship. This was the first booster to launch 23 times, and footage from SpaceX's live stream showed the rocket landing successfully but failing to bear its weight before eventually tipping over on the drone ship.
