Apple finally included a telephoto lens in its iPhone 15 Pro Max last year, with the upgrade extended to the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. This is just one of the many examples of how the Cupertino firm adopts various standards much later than the competition, likely because it wants to offer the best configuration to customers. One other technology that the company is said to bring for the iPhone 18 that rivals like Samsung introduced years ago is variable aperture for the main camera, and according to one analyst, another supplier will provide these parts. Sunny […]
The use of TSMC’s second-generation 3nm process for the M4 series has made Apple’s latest chipsets more thermally efficient, but that does not mean that a capable cooling solution should be ignored from the rest of the hardware configuration. In fact, depending on how robust that solution is, we can actually get more performance from the M4, as demonstrated in the latest Premiere Pro 4K Export test, where the redesigned Mac mini is faster than Apple’s updated 14-inch MacBook Pro. However, one other hardware ends up taking the crown, and we will discuss why this is happening. The 24-inch M4 […]
Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn isn’t likely to make it to the top of most folks’ list of hardest soulslike titles, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t offer a challenge—especially if you’re not taking full advantage of everything the game has to offer. Read...
It's a pretty big GeForce NOW Thursday, as NVIDIA has confirmed that its cloud streaming service has been integrated into Xbox.com game pages, making it even faster and easier to launch supported PC games. As you might recall, a few Xbox users spotted GeForce NOW on game pages a couple of weeks ago, and it looks like the feature is now officially rolled out to everyone. That's just the tip of the iceberg, though. NVIDIA is also discounting Premium Memberships for a limited time; both the Priority and the Ultimate tiers are half off until August 18, allowing GeForce NOW […]
Nearly five years after the launch of Ashen, Wellington-based game developer A44 is about to launch its second game, Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn. Whereas Ashen was published by indie label Annapurna Interactive and brought up from the ID@Xbox program as an Xbox/PC exclusive at first, Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn enjoys a raised profile and a full multiplatform launch from the get-go with publisher Kepler Interactive. A44 also doubled in size to make it, bolstering its headcount from 30 to 60 developers, which is admittedly still on the lower end for a developer looking to craft a game not […]
The world has been plunged into darkness. The dead persist violently among the living. What remains of humanity following a cataclysm I helped trigger is now at each other’s throats. I carry my share of the blame, but it’s clear the gods must pay for w...
At GDC 2024, New Zealand-based developer A44 (known for 2018's Ashen) provided an updated look at Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn, its upcoming action RPG that sits between God of War and a lite, more accessible version of the Soulslike genre. A44 is now composed of around 65 employees, and they've been working on this game for quite a while. Flintlock fantasy novels inspire the game's original setting with a striking central theme: Gods wielding magic versus armies made of regular people wielding guns from a Napoleonic era. At the beginning of Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn, main character Nor […]

The Group recorded an extraordinary loss of approximately ¥5.9 billion ($38.7 million) in the second quarter for the fiscal year due to the sale of overseas development studio Amplitude Studios SAS through a management buyout.
