Today, Respawn Entertainment and Electronic Arts have announced the details of the PS5 Pro enhancements for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. The main advancement in both modes is that the base resolutions have been greatly increased compared to the base PlayStation 5 version. The game's Quality mode retains a 4K resolution and ray-traced elements but is now upscaled from 1800p to 2160p, thus increasing fidelity. Likewise, the Performance mode now runs at a higher resolution of 1800p (upscaled from 1200p) and also introduces raytraced occlusion and reflections while continuing to target 60 frames per second. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is notorious […]

South Korean financial website Money Today reports that Guild Wars 3 recently received the green light from ArenaNet parent company NCSoft, which assessed in-house development resources and reviewed business feasibility. It is unclear from the report whether development is literally just starting or whether actual production is now commencing. Despite some layoffs that took place in 2019, ArenaNet has been working on a new project for some time. In 2022, the developer was openly hiring for an unannounced triple-A game in pre-production, based on an 'established fantasy online IP' and to be made with Unreal Engine 5. Unless ArenaNet suddenly […]
As promised last week, ArenaNet has released The Realm of Dreams, the second major free content update for Guild Wars 2's Secrets of the Obscure expansion. This new patch for the PC MMORPG adds several content pieces and new features, such as new weapon proficiencies for each profession (class). These are: Guardian: Pistol (main and off-hand) Revenant: Scepter (main hand) Warrior: Staff Engineer: Short bow Ranger: Mace (main and off-hand) Thief: Axe (main hand) Elementalist: Pistol (main hand) Mesmer: Rifle Necromancer: Sword (main and off-hand) There's a lot more, though. Today, ArenaNet revealed that the second content update for Guild Wars 2: Secrets of the Obscure, called The Realm of Dreams, will be available for free starting February 27. Players will be able to explore a brand new portion of Nayos, home to the dreadful Kryptis. Two new legendary bosses will be introduced to Convergences, the nighttime 50-player group instances introduced with November's Through the Veil update. Arguably the biggest additions of The Realm of Dreams update are the brand new weapon proficiencies. Unlike previous expansions, Secrets of the Obscure did not add new Elite Specialization. However, starting next week, […]
Following the MMORPG's 10-year anniversary celebrated last year, ArenaNet has picked up steam (partly thanks to joining Valve's namesake store) with the ongoing development of Guild Wars 2. The Bellevue-based developer released the fourth expansion, Secrets of the Obscure, in August, and there's more coming between free content and paid expansions with the new yearly model. Wccftech had the opportunity to access the studio's end-of-year blog post in advance, where ArenaNet confirmed Secrets of the Obscure has been a financial success and promised that the next update (which includes new story chapters, the Temple of Febe Strike Challenge Mode, nine […]

It's been nearly three years since Deadline first reported that Amazon was closing on a deal to adapt Mass Effect into a TV series for its Prime Video channel. Today, Variety says that the deal is finally done, featuring Daniel Casey as the writer and executive producer of the show. Casey is known primarily for the screenplay of 2018's Kin, a sci-fi feature film, and 2021's Fast & Furious 9. Neither of which were exactly masterpieces, unfortunately. Anyway, Variety also reports that Karim Zreik will executive produce under his Cedar Tree Productions banner. Ari Arad and BioWare's Michael Gamble will […]
