Silent Hill 2 Remake “Release Date and Platforms” To be Revealed in the Near Future

When are we finally going to get a release date for the Silent Hill 2 remake? The game is widely expected to launch sometime in 2024, but PR from Konami has been spotty at best. We got a somewhat-questionable trailer back in February (that even developer Bloober Team criticized as not representative of the final game) and as we head deeper into the year, there’s still a lot to be nailed down. The game’s been rated by the ESRB and there are rumors it may pop up at a PlayStation Showcase next month, but Konami themselves have remained silent. Well, […]

Operation Galuga’s Director On Capturing That Classic Contra Feeling

If you asked me what I think the best game of the ‘80s is, I’d have a hard time answering. There are just so many hugely important and amazing games of that era, from Ultima IV to Out Run to Super Mario Bros. 3. If, however, you asked me what the most ...

Contra: Operation Galuga Review – Old-School Frenzy

Among the classic KONAMI franchises the Japanese publisher neglected the most in the past few years is the Contra series. Among the originators of the run-'n'-gun genre, over the years, the series failed to achieve the massive success of the original arcade game released back in the late 80s, and the many twists of the original formula featured in the sequels were not enough to make Contra a household name in shooter games among a younger generation of gamers. As KONAMI, which is now bringing back many of its core franchises, must have finally realized that Contra is at its […]

Silent Hill 2 Dev Trashes Konami-Edited Trailer, Which Doesn’t Reflect “Spirit of the Game”

Konami has handed the keys to one of their most beloved games ever, Silent Hill 2, to Polish developer Bloober Team, which you’d think would indicate the two companies have a close, trusting relationship! Unfortunately, that… doesn’t seem to be the case. Bloober Team has made a number of pointed comments about Konami’s promotion of their Silent Hill 2 remake (or lack thereof) and now they’ve made their sharpest comments yet, outright criticizing the trailer shown during Sony’s most recent State of Play. While I thought the trailer was okay, others have criticized it for over-focusing on action and not […]

Can Bloober Team successfully deliver a modern version of Konami’s classic? It’s an open question and we’ve seen very little of the remake since it was first announced back in 2022. Well, today during the most recent State of Play show, Sony and Konami gave us a revealing new peek at the Silent Hill 2 remake. The trailer shows James Sunderland making his […]

Silent Hill 4: The Room Unreal Engine 5 Fanmade Remake Looks Stunning in New 4K Video

Silent Hill 4: The Room may not be as outdated as the previous entries in the series, but having been released almost 20 years ago, it would definitely do with a visual overhaul. While Konami has only just started picking the series back up again, Maxim Dorokhov worked on a fanmade remake of the fourth entry in the franchise powered by Unreal Engine 5. While the fanmade remake is currently limited to Henry's apartment, it is undeniable that its recreation looks stunning, with tons of detail that set it apart from the original and most UE5-powered titles available on the […]

Eiyuden Chronicle Hundred Heroes Hands-On Preview – First Steps Towards Greatness

Eiyuden Chronicle was first unveiled three and a half years ago, but players haven’t had many opportunities to get their hands on this fabled RPG. It was billed as a spiritual successor to Konami’s Suikoden series, the signature title from Rabbit & Bear Studios. To fill the void from the announcement until its inevitable release, Eiyuden Chronicle launched a spinoff action RPG known as Eiyuden Chronicle Rising to set the stage.  Part of the main draw to the Suikoden franchise lies in the number of recruitable characters, with the narrative itself billed around the 108 Stars of Destiny.
