Steam has set a new top concurrent player number record some hours ago, with Valve's platform closing in at 34 million concurrent players. Valve's platform set a new record yesterday (at 14:00 UTC) with 33.675.299 users being connected to the platform simultaneously. The previous peak CCU was 33.598.520 players. Interestingly, of those close to 34 million users, 10.653.243 users were playing a game, suggesting that roughly 2/3 of the connected players were doing other things (via @Morwull). A huge security exploit has been discovered in Counter-Strike 2, allowing malicious users to obtain the IP addresses of entire lobbies. As explained by X/Twitter user Ozzny, in the past hours, several users reported a security exploit with Steam names inside the game which allows players to make some visual changes with a simple HTML code linking an image. The issue is that this exploit allows a malicious user to obtain the IP addresses of every player connected to the server with the help of an IP logger. A new Steam Deck mod that can now be downloaded online expands the device's refresh rate options to support refresh rates options up to 120hz for the new OLED model.
