It should not come as a surprise that Samsung is gearing up for the Galaxy Unpacked event. If all the speculations are correct, this will be the biggest event in years for Samsung since we will be seeing a handful of devices, including the Galaxy Watch 6 and Watch 6 Classic. After seeing these watches leak a handful of times, we finally have the official-looking spec sheet that shows us everything that we need to know about the upcoming smartwatches from the South Korean tech giant.
The Galaxy Watch 6 and Galaxy Watch 6 Classic will be impressive step-ups from the previous generation of smartwatches
The latest leak is coming from SnoopyTech, a reliable tipster who has shared a screenshot that shows the specs of both the Galaxy Watch 6 and Watch 6 Classic. The document more or less confirms all the past rumors, only making us believe that it is, in fact, legit and that we are going to get some really nice offerings out of these watches.
Let's start with the Galaxy Watch 6 and what it has to offer. According to the leaked specs, you are going to get two variants. One in 40mm and one in 44mm. The smaller variant will have a 1.31-inch AMOLED display with 432x432 resolution and sapphire crystal on the front, while the larger model will offer a 1.47-inch AMOLED display with 480x480 resolution and sapphire crystal on the front. The watch is powered by an Exynos W930 chipset with 2 gigs of RAM and 16 gigs of internal storage.
The Galaxy Watch 6 is made out of aluminum and has IP68 water resistance, MIL-STD-810 certification, and 50 meters of water resistance. The watch will run on Wear OS Powered by Samsung and is 28% lighter than the Watch 5 Pro. The smaller version will have a 300 mAh battery, and the larger will have a 425 mah battery, and they will be available in Graphite Grey, Gold, and Silver.
Moving onto the larger Galaxy Watch 6 Classic, we are looking at a 47mm dial with a 1.47-inch AMOLED display with 480x480 resolution and sapphire on the front. The smaller 43mm variant offers a 1.31-inch display with 432x432 resolution and, of course, sapphire crystal. The resolution or the screen size has not changed, but the diameter has. This is mainly because the Classic variant has a rotating bezel that is made out of stainless steel. The chipset, along with the rest of the specs, remain the same. The classic variant will stay true to its name and will be available only in black and silver.
Honestly, I am looking forward to the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic, not because I prefer larger watches, but because it looks like an actual watch. It is still not sure if I will get one, but the one thing that disappoints me is that the classic variant should have at least 100 meters of water resistance, like the Apple Watch Ultra. Don't get me wrong, 50 meters is more than enough for the type of use case this watch caters to, but 100m would have made it even better.
The Galaxy Watch 6 and Watch 6 Classic are scheduled for July 26th, so be sure that you are staying tuned, and we will keep you posted when everything unveils. You can also expect a heap of other information leaking in the next couple of days, and we will be sure to keep you posted.
