The Apple Watch Series 9 will be unveiled at Apple's special event in the first half of September alongside the iPhone 15 lineup. So far, we have heard that the wearable will not see any changes in terms of design. However, the company could incorporate additional health sensors and features. Now, it is being coined that the Apple Watch Series 9 will come with a new magnetic band design. It makes sense for the company to introduce a new band design since the wearable itself looks identical to the Series 8.
Apple Watch Series 9 is slated to be announced with a new magnetic band design that blends elements from the fabric, buckle, and the link bands
As mentioned earlier, the Apple Watch Series 9 will not feature any design changes, but it will still be worth the upgrade considering the enhancements Apple will implement on the inside. With a stagnant design flow, the company is now planning to introduce a new magnetic band design which will offer a new look. According to a leaker named Kosutami on Twitter, the new band design will be a blend of woven fabric and a magnetic buckle.
The new band design for the Apple Watch will potentially work similarly to the Modern buckle. The Modern buckle is only available for the 38, 40, and 41mm Apple Watch sizes and is available for $149. Since the Modern Buckle is not available for the Apple Watch Ultra, we suspect that the new magnetic band design will be exclusive to the Series 9 only.
The company could introduce a bigger version of the band and streamline the accessories with the models. However, it is very unlikely that this will happen because the Apple Watch Ultra is oriented toward professional athletes, trainers, and adventurers. This means that the Apple Watch Ultra requires a rugged watch band that suits its environment. With the new magnetic band design for the Apple Watch Series 9, the company seems to be combining its fabric, buckle, and link bands. Additionally, it could be priced similarly to the Modern Buckle.
The Series 9 is expected to launch with a new S9 chip which will offer enhanced computational and graphical capabilities. Furthermore, since the chip will be based on Apple's A15 Bionic chip, the low power-hungry nature of the SoC will consume less power and contribute to better battery life. The Series 9 is also expected to come in a new Pink color option, while the upgraded Apple Watch Ultra will feature a Titanium finish for enhanced durability.
