YouTube Music is a great streaming service, and YouTube wants to make sure that you are interested in it more so than before. Despite not going through a lot of changes, it still remains one of the better alternatives in the market, but now, the platform has gained a new feature that will make it even better. The biggest change is now happening in the form of a "Samples" tab that will show up in the app, and the purpose behind this is rather simple, it will allow you to discover content that is personalized to your taste.
The Samples tab on YouTube Music is the best way to explore new music
The new Samples tab can be found between the Home and Explore tabs, and it simply looks like how Reels do on Instagram. The best thing is that what you see in this tab are just samples of music. Yes, 30-second snippets of music videos, along with some other content that is uploaded directly by the artists. The best thing about these snippets is that instead of giving you the start of the song, they give you a musically more intriguing part of it. Think about a riff that has caught your ear or a beat that you cannot stop repeating in your head.
If you like music as much as I do, this feature is definitely something that you will be using a lot on YouTube Music. The point of this feature is simple. It is to help you discover new music, and what better way than the artists uploading content that they believe you will like? Yes, I'd love a 30-second solo uploaded on the app so I can find it in the Samples tab and give it a try because I do prefer good guitars in a song. Similarly, hip-hop fans could actually find their favorite verses in a song. The possibilities are there as long as artists make sure that they are uploading the right kind of content.
You can see this video showing how the Samples tab is going to work, and I believe that this is one of the best features to come to a service.
As far as availability is concerned, the YouTube Music app will receive an update on both Android and iOS, and the Samples tab will be available. The feature is going to be available for both free and premium users. The rollout has started today and will be available in the coming weeks to all devices globally.
