It has only been six days since the Galaxy Z Flip 5 hit the stores, but it seems like Samsung is already working on the Galaxy Z Flip 6. The phone is still in the prototype stage, but based on information received, Samsung is working to fix the biggest issue with past clamshell foldable phones, and that is the primary camera.
The Galaxy Z Flip 6 getting a camera upgrade is a long time coming, the Z Fold 6 could also get an update
For those who don't know, Samsung has been playing it safe with the cameras on foldable phones, and the clamshell variant is often the subject of getting an average camera. I am not saying that it is bad, but for a $1,000 phone, you would expect something top-notch. That has not changed, but the report claims that the Galaxy Z Flip 6 prototype that Samsung has prepared sports a 50-megapixel camera, and my guess is that this is likely the sensor that will be found in the base Galaxy S24 variant that will come out next year.
Now, of course, none of this is confirmed, but it does make sense from a lot of perspectives. For instance, Samsung has been using the same camera system on the Galaxy Z Flip series. So, it makes perfect sense that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is going to receive a big upgrade in terms of the camera department. After all, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 received its upgrade in terms of the new cover display.
We cannot confirm anything until the end of the year or early next year after the launch of Galaxy S24, but we will surely keep you posted as we have more details. If Samsung does go with this decision, you could expect some optical upgrades to the Galaxy Z Fold 6, too. Of course, Samsung would not want to leave its crown foldable behind.
