Instagram can no longer be called a platform that is used for sharing just photos and videos as it has become a full-fledged social media with its own identity. Aside from being a creator or even an average user, the platform allows you to send messages to your friends, call them, video call them, and even send voice notes. Well, if all of that was not enough then the good news is that the Meta-owned photo-sharing platform could seen introduce an ability to send video notes.

If all of this sounds familiar, then you are not the only one because WhatsApp recently started rolling out the same feature, and now Instagram is getting the same feature. It really should not come as a surprise, considering how both platforms are owned by Meta, but I still don't understand why anyone would want to send a video note in the first place. To me, it's only more distracting and just doesn't make sense on a larger scale. I mean, sure, if I am sending cat videos to my wife via video notes, it would make sense, but it sounds like a very niche feature.

Now, another thing to note here is that video notes on Instagram will work differently than how they do on WhatsApp. As you can see in the screenshots above, these notes are not something you can send to individual users. This works a lot like the notes that you already can leave on your profile. Before, you could only leave audio or text-based notes, but it now appears that you will have the feature to leave video notes as well. As you can see in the screenshot, the notes will stay on top of your profile for 24 hours, much like their counterparts.
We are not sure when Instagram will get access to these features, but considering how Meta is normally quick with these additions, we might see them appearing rather soon. Whatever the case is, I'll be sure to keep you posted about all the information that we learn. If you want to be the first one to test out the new features that are coming to all the platforms that you use, I would highly suggest that you are enrolled in the beta program because that is the only way that you can go ahead and get the chance to test out all the latest features.
