The launch of the Galaxy S23 FE may not be a one-time thing from Samsung, though it should be pointed out that the company did not proceed with a Galaxy S22 FE after the Galaxy S21 FE’s inception. Regardless, with consumers no longer upgrading to flagship smartphones as they used to, it is rumored that the Korean giant will offer them better specifications in a more affordable pricing bracket through annual Galaxy S FE launches.
Samsung is also rumored to be working on an affordable foldable lineup dubbed Galaxy Z FE
An earlier report from Counterpoint Research mentioned that smartphone shipments will witness the biggest decline in a period of 10 years, and unfortunately for Samsung, it too will be a casualty of this decline. Given that several regions are going through a period of recession, consumers have to prioritize their funds on other expenditures rather than upgrading to the flashiest flagship offerings.
On X, Revegnus has mentioned that Samsung aims to proceed with an annual Galaxy S FE launch, starting with the Galaxy S23 FE, which is right around the corner. Additionally, the company aims to work on more affordable foldable smartphones, which have yet to offer a pocket-friendly solution, but that will happen after the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 launch. Similar to the Galaxy S FE name, Samsung may introduce a brand new lineup called Galaxy Z FE.
The S23 FE is set to be released soon, and there are possibilities that Samsung plans to consistently introduce the FE brand annually. Simultaneously, there are rumors of ongoing testing for the launch of the Galaxy Z FE(lite model), after the Fold/Flip 6.

While the latest rumor does not comment on any specifications, in the past, we have seen the Galaxy S20 FE and Galaxy S21 FE offer flagship internals for a significantly lower price than their flagship counterparts. However, these come at a cost, ranging from the use of a plastic chassis instead of an aluminum one not to mention an inferior camera setup. Fortunately, customers will be more piqued at the prospect of getting their hands on a high-end smartphone for less money than having superior camera hardware.
The Galaxy S20 FE launch garnered immense success for Samsung, crossing 10 million units thanks to its price-to-performance ratio, showing that future models can definitely help shape the company’s future in the years to come.
