Threads has quickly become one of the most talked about social media platforms after the platform managed to amass 100 million signups in less than a week after its launch. The platform launched at the right time, too, since Twitter was going through a hard time maintaining its integrity, and Meta decided to capitalize on it at just the right time.
Threads' website will finally launch next week, allowing more and more users to join the platform
However, Threads' success was just a flash in the pan as the user base started declining rapidly after a massive launch. I didn't give the platform a try, but I felt that it could really use a website as, at launch, it was only available on iOS and Android. However, that is about to change very soon.
According to a report from The Wall Street Journal, the website version of Threads is going to launch this week. This means that the social media platform will finally be available on the desktop and will be a lot more accessible for people who prefer scrolling their websites on their computers. For instance, I am at my laptop or my desktop most of the day, and that is where I catch up with everything that is happening on X and other platforms. The same can be said about a lot of other people who go through a similar ordeal.
Well, you won't have to wait long because Threads is actually getting a website. Now, there might be a lot of confusion as to how this will help the platform engage more people. Well, having a web version will actually increase user adoption because now you have more people on various devices wanting to access the website. Not just that, it will also help with an increase in monetization opportunities, as having access to a web version of the platform can open up doors for various advertisers. We are not sure if Meta will decide to bring advertising to Threads in the future, but it could change once the web version goes live.
Another benefit of having a Threads website is that a lot of companies and brands will have an easier time managing their accounts without the need to hand someone a phone with the app installed because that does not always work the way it should.
The good news is that Threads' website was confirmed by Instagram creator Adam Mosseri, as well. Mosseri also confirmed that they are currently not working on an app for foldable phones, but we can expect that to change in the future.
