As Exynos 2400 production is rumored to have picked up steam thanks to improved 4nm yields, there is a high probability that Samsung will go against the original launch strategy in its home market of South Korea and end up unveiling the Galaxy S24 series without a Snapdragon variant. Given the history of the Exynos lineup, consumers will not be thrilled to find out that the company is leaning towards an 80 percent chance of using its own SoC in the flagship series for this region.
Decision to shift the Galaxy S24 series to Exynos 2400 in South Korea will be considered controversial but will help Samsung increase its margins
The Exynos 2400 has already been rumored to be found in every Galaxy S24 model sold in two major smartphone markets; Europe and some parts of Asia. Assuming that a user on Meeco is correct in his or her prediction, Samsung will push forward with this decision, as the firm’s bigwigs are already 80 percent sure of making this move, with the remaining 20 percent sticking with the better alternative, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
Keep in mind that the Galaxy S22 models launched in the same market with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, so Samsung will have another shift in its strategy that might not play out to be the best decision thanks to the notorious history of its Exynos chipsets. Even if consumers get angered by this move, it is not like Samsung has much choice in the matter, as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is rumored to be more expensive than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. The latter reportedly cost Qualcomm’s partners $160 apiece, including Samsung.
By using the Exynos 2400, Samsung is estimated to generate more margins with each Galaxy S24 in this market, which gives it more financial freedom to partner with South Korean carriers to push out aggressive promotional plans for the upcoming flagship family. Apple has been reported to have established a foothold in Samsung’s home turf, so the technology giant already has sufficient motivation to push out Apple or, at the very least, provide some resistance.
There is also the possibility that Samsung’s top executives will backtrack on this plan, proceeding with a Galaxy S24 launch with just the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. As always, treat this rumor with a pinch of salt, and we will be back with more updates.
