Google Photos previously did not support the ability to back up the locked folder. This was a frustrating issue after transferring over to a new device, only to realize that the content from the older device did not transfer over. However, that is changing now since Locked Folder back up is now a thing, and the feature is also coming to iOS and web.
Google Photos' Locked Folder has finally become a lot more useful with the option to back up
Starting today, Android users will get the chance to back up the locked folder just like they back up anything else on Google Photos. Once the content of the locked folder is uploaded, it will be available on all the devices that are using the same Google Photos account. The support extends to web, iPad, and iPhone devices as well.
Other than adding this feature, Google has not really added a lot of other features to locked folders, except it is now widely available, and for good reason. Once the new feature completely rolls out, Google Photos users are going to have a lot easier time managing their pictures because they will no longer have to worry about the contents of their folder not making it over to the new device.
Another small change that Google Photos is getting is that the settings page has now improved and has become easier to navigate. If you have been using the app for some time, you know the confusion that the settings page can cause, and well, Google has decided to take care of that with the new update. This will ensure that you are no longer lost trying to find the specific setting that you were looking for.
The new settings page is now rolling out to Google Photos on both Android and iOS, and the backup and iOS support for Locked Folder will also start rolling out today, and naturally, it could take a couple of days to hit all the devices across the globe.
