X or Twitter, whatever you might want to call it, has gone through an identity change, and despite that, the app is still just as popular and is getting a host of new features to make the platform even better. Today, Elon Musk announced that X is now getting an audio and video calling feature, something that is going to be polarizing for a lot of people, but I am really looking forward to seeing how the feature works when it finally comes out.
X or Twitter getting audio and video calling feature could defeat the actual purpose of the platform
Musk announced on his X account that the ability to video call or audio call is going to work on iOS, Android, Mac, and PC. So, you have all the major platforms covered. Another benefit here is that you will not need a phone number to initiate the phone call. This makes one think that the feature is going to work based solely on the user name of the person. Another thing that Musk has pointed out is that this feature will make X the effective global address book, which does make sense considering how you can now reach anyone on the platform via a phone call.

Sadly, Elon Musk has not revealed any other details about the latest feature coming to X (formerly known as Twitter), but it is safe to say that it is definitely an interesting feature, and I cannot really wait to see what more waits for us in the final release. At the moment, we don't even have the release date for the feature, but considering how it is a big implementation, it is going to take some time before it finally arrives on all the platforms.
Honestly, I am not surprised that X or Twitter is finally getting the feature. It is something that was going to happen at some point, but I am not sure how this feature is going to be adopted by the users once it comes out. After all, for any feature to be a success, there needs to be a user base. Having the ability to video/audio call someone on the platform does seem like an interesting feature, but it goes against the micro-blogging nature of the platform, and for the same reason, we might see a polarizing response from the users.
