Apple announced its latest iOS 17 update to the general public at its WWDC 2023 event in June. The update will be available on all compatible iPhone models later this month alongside watchOS 10 and additional updates. Last year, Apple delayed the release of iPadOS 16 by more than a month. While iOS 16 was released at its set date, Apple saw fit to delay iPadOS 16 because it was not ready and needed final fixes for bugs and issues. Henceforth, could the iPadOS 17 release see another delay?
Apple will not delay iPadOS 17 as final release is expected alongside iOS 17
iPadOS 17 is a major update for the iPad considering the amount of forward-facing features it will bring to the table. The platform is currently in its eighth beta cycle and according to a recent report, it could be the final build with a different name. What this means is that iPadOS 17 has undergone immense curation as far as bugs and issues are concerned. The beta build is pretty stable and smooth and all the new features seem to be working as intended. This could give us a good idea that iPadOS 17 will not see any delays and will be released to the general public alongside iOS 17.
Apart from this, industry analyst Mark Gurman notes in his latest Power On newsletter that iPadOS 17 will be released alongside other updates. Gurman's sources tell him that Apple is internally considering the eighth beta of the platform as the final build ahead of seeding release candidate builds. However, the analyst also mentions that if iPadOS 17 encounters an issue, it could pose a potential delay.
While these are mere speculations, we might not see a delay in the release of iPadOS 17. Last year, iPadOS 16 was delayed by more than a month which means that the platform did not get its fair share of time in the open world. The reason for the delay was to refine the new Stage Manager feature which was available on all M1 iPad models. Apple must have taken note and sped up the process for the timely release of iPadOS 17 this year.
Alongside iPadOS 17, Apple will also release iOS 17, watchOS 10, tvOS 17, and macOS Sonoma for all compatible devices. watchOS 10 will be a major update as it introduces a radical design change for the Home Screen as well as in-app changes. We will be covering the final releases in extensive detail, so be sure to stick around for more details.
