Apple is gearing up to announce its first 3nm chip with the launch of the iPhone 15 Pro models next week. The chip will deliver enhanced computational and graphical performance while consuming less power. Other than the A17 Bionic, it was previously rumored that Apple will launch an upgraded MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro model with an M3 chip. Now, a prominent analyst states that Apple will not launch any MacBook this year with the new 3nm chip.
M3 MacBook Air and 13-inch M3 MacBook Pro models are delayed until next year
The news was shared by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo on X (formerly known as Twitter) suggesting that it is very unlikely that the new MacBook with an M3 chip will launch this year. Initial reports from Mark Gurman stated that Apple plans to host another event after Wonderlust which will be oriented toward MacBook models. It was believed that the company would upgrade the 13-inch MacBook, 13-inch MacBook Pro, and the 24-inch iMac with M3 chip.
While Ming-Chi Kuo has stated that ni MacBooks will be announced later this year, he did not state anything regarding the iMac. Henceforth, there is some possibility that Apple will upgrade the 24-inch iMac with a new M3 chip. The 24-inch iMac is due for an upgrade as the machine has not gotten the M2 treatment as of yet. Currently, the 24-inch iMac is available with an M1 chip. Apple could introduce new color options with the upgrade machine but these are mere speculations at this point as the final word rests with Apple.
看起來到今年年底前,Apple應該都不會發售新款的MacBook (配備M3系列處理器) 機型了

It seems that Apple will not launch new MacBook models (equipped with M3 series processors) before the end of this year.— 郭明錤 (Ming-Chi Kuo) (@mingchikuo) September 8, 2023
The M3 chip will be based on TSMC's 3nm architecture which will deliver enhanced CPU and GPU capabilities. Furthermore, the chip also consumes less power which will be a major aspect of the MacBook lineup as it will boost battery life on 'Air' as well as the 'Pro' models. Apple could also offer the M3 chips in different configurations. Since Apple is increasing the price of its iPhone lineup, we can speculate that the change will be implemented on the entire product line.
Apple is also looking to update the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with the M3 Pro and M3 Max chips next year. Furthermore, the M3 Ultra chips will be reserved for the Mac Pro and Mac Studio. If Apple plans to launch the M3 MacBook Air models next year, it could pose another delay for the launch of its high-end MacBook Pro lineup. This is because it is very unlikely that the company would update its entire Mac lineup together. Nonetheless, we will keep you guys updated on the latest.
