The new iPhone 15 series is finally here, and as expected, it brings USB Type-C, something that we have been hoping for some time now. Knowing Apple, it was pretty obvious that we would see the company embracing the new standard. This means that the currently available products, such as the AirPods Pro 2, are receiving a small update where you can get the USB Type-C offering so you can charge all your devices with a single cable.

The AirPods Pro 2 are not the only thing that received an update. Apple has also said that the EarPods can also be purchased with the USB Type-C. Another thing that you can do is charge your AirPods using your iPhone 16 by simply connecting the cables on each end and beginning charging. It is not quite like the reverse wireless charging that we see, but it definitely is going to be faster than charging wirelessly.
Now, before you decide that you want to get rid of your perfectly functional AirPods Pro 2, I would like to mention that there is no other difference between the current ones and the new USB Type-C variant that Apple has released. This means that once the charging case is available as a separate purchase, you can go ahead and get your hands on it without any issues and just put your old case away.
If, however, you don't have AirPods Pro 2 and you are scouring the market for a new pair, then you are going to have to spend $249, and you can purchase these from apple.com/store. Honestly, I am glad that Apple has gone ahead and updated the AirPods, as well. Users will no longer have to stick to the old charging cable, and of course, you will be free from the claws of any Lightning cable. The decision to shift to USB Type-C is definitely an excellent one.
